L-R: Tuesday Mahrle and Kaely Monahan
Hello and welcome Whiskey and Popcorn! We are Kaely and Tuesday— two movie enthusiasts who love to watch and talk about film.

Kaely , creator and host

I have always been drawn to storytelling. Growing up in the Phoenix Valley, I kept looking for ways to escape the oppressive heat (and boredom) that comes with living in a desert. This is how my love for movies was born!  I grew addicted to the fairway lands and moving stories that were shown in the nice dark and air-conditioned theaters.  And like a true super nerd, I quickly became enthralled with everything from Star Wars to Lord of the Rings.

Ever since, I have spent my extra cash on popcorn, Dr. Pepper, and movie tickets!  So along with my love of the cinema, cats, and BuzzFeed quizzes, I've decided to make my living at being a journalist.  A journalist who writes, podcasts, and dreams about movies, art, and well cats.

I completed my Masters in International Journalism at the City University in London. My day job is producing at my local public radio station. I started this podcast shortly after I returned to Phoenix as a way to combine my journalism skills and love of film. This podcast is a total labor of love.

Kaely's Favorite Movie: Jurassic Park — Because who doesn't like dinosaurs?

Tuesday, co-host

I have been an avid movie fan since I was a small child. Having a brother five years older, I was exposed to a variety of films, for good or bad. I have fond memories of watching the 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series - complete with the Vanilla Ice cameo, on Saturday afternoons of my childhood.

On Saturday nights, my family would discuss(fight about) what to watch from our drawer of tapes that we had watched a million times before. That drawer still exists to this day.

I have a special place in my heart for comedies, rom-coms, documentaries, and historically-based films. My threshold for action films is minimal.

In between movies, I graduated ASU with a degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology and Women's Studies. My post graduate work was in ASL and Deaf studies. In my day-to-day life, I work in social media for online and print publications, politicians, and small business individuals.
